Schematic diagram of the glioma and glymphatic pathways. CSF enters the brain parenchyma along the perivascular space of arterioles, where it undergoes diffusion and convection mediated by AQP-4 to exchange solutes with the ISF. After this exchange, CSF moves towards the perivascular space of the veins and ultimately flows to the meningeal lymphatic system and cervical lymph nodes. Additionally, fluid efflux may occur through other undefined pathways, such as along nerve bundles like the olfactory nerve. CSF, cerebrospinal fluid; ISF, interstitial fluid.
